WJZY-TV History Timeline1987 - CBC becomes sole owner of Metro Crescent Communications3/10/1987 - WJZY-TV signs on the air as Metro Crescent Communications 6/29/1987 - WJZY-TV granted license in Belmont, NC 1988 - WJZY-TV name changed from Metro Crescent Communications to WJZY-TV 1995 - WJZY-TV becomes a UPN affiliate 2000 - WJZY-TV license transferred to CBC 2002 - WJZY-TV airs first HD broadcast, "Enterprise" in September 9/18/2006 - WJZY-TV, one of CBC’s two Charlotte TV stations, changes its network affiliation and begins airing programming for the CW Network, the date the network first hit the air. The CW Network, a creation of the merger of the UPN & WB networks. Formerly WJZY UPN46, the station became known as WJZY CW46. 6/12/2009 - CBC television stations join the country in turning off their analog signals, officially making the transition to digital telvision. |
