Genesis Home

About the Genesis Home:
Genesis Home is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families and young adults overcome homelessness and achieve self-sufficiency while residing in a safe and supportive environment.

During an average stay of 6 months, residents and staff work together to meet parenting, nutrition, education, job, and housing-related goals through three key programs:

  • Genesis HomeFamily Matters, a transitional housing program that helps individual families identify and overcome the root causes of their homelessness;
  • Independent Living Program, a program focused on personal development and building essential life skills in homeless young men and women who have aged out of foster care;
  • Turning Point, a program that immediately returns homeless families to permanent housing.

Genesis HomeThrough personalized and intensive case management that continues well beyond a client’s time in residence at Genesis Home, the staff works with each family and young adult to develop the skills necessary to maintain permanent housing in the community.

FILL ONGOING NEEDS
Genesis Home has an ongoing need for supplies for the families and young adults that they serve. The agency runs on a very frugal budget and couldn't offer their clients these basic needs without support from our community. Genesis Home has a list of needs of everything from dishes to bicycles. Check out the list here.

Circles of SupportCIRCLES OF SUPPORT "PILOT" PROGRAM
Beginning in 2010, Genesis Home will launch the Circles of Support "Pilot" Program. The program is designed to form circles of support around selected families or individuals who are homeless and moving into permanent housing.

The program would train and provide support to churches, synagogues, mosques and other faith or community organizations that form a Circle of Support. Experience has shown that successful partnerships can help individuals and families to become self-sufficient in four to twelve months.
